• Statement of the Jury

Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina is pleased to announce the decision of the Jury of the The Artists of Tomorrow Award 2017 for selecting finalists of The Artists of Tomorrow Award 2017.

The Jury of The Artists of Tomorrow Award 2017, comprising Charles Esche, Erëmirë Krasniqi, Nataša Petrešin, Adrian Deva dhe Renaud Proch, selected three finalists out of eleven applications.

The Jury decided to base the decision on the criteria of innovative, strong and also interdisciplinary practices.

The finalists are very different from one another in formats and experience, but share an ambition to produce visually compelling, politically situated or contextualized works.

The first finalist is Meriton Maloku who surprised us with his engaged vision about most compelling topics of our current everyday.

The second finalist is Enesa Xheladini, whose pronounced visual practice, that takes form in notebooks and sketches for sculptures and public installations, comes out of her architectural practice.

The third finalist is Jetullah Sylejmani who deals with the civilizational questions of resources, war and democracy in a visually ambitious way.

The Jury is very curious about seeing these practices translate into the finalist’s exhibition and competing for The Artists of Tomorrow Award 2017.

The Jury values the engagement and the work of all artist that have applied for The Artists of Tomorrow Award 2017 and encourages all young artists of Kosovo to continue their work in contemporary art and to continue to apply for this important award in next editions.

This pivotal independent award is organized by Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina in cooperation with Residency Unlimited in New York and is supported by The Trust for Mutual Understanding in New York, Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo, U.S. Embassy in Kosovo and DZG.
